TV MOVIE that was about aliens sending asteroids or something down to remote areas to respond to us. Like news?

This movie was a scifi movie made for TV. It was made in the form of a real newscast that asteroids had hit in 3 or so low population areas. The people that survived came out speaking this different laguage over and over until it said something about peace. But it was too late because we had blown the next few asteroids out of the sky and they took it as a threat and I remember the screen then being filled with em.
