Free OS to put on my PS3?

What is a good, reliable open source/freeware os that i can download to my pc so i can put it on my ps3? I have been wanting to put another os on my playstation, but dont feel like paying for one. If you could give me some names, websites, and possibly advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
